awkward and awesome

Awkward:

Playing a game of roll-the-water-bottle-to-the-other-person and accidentally chucking the water bottle half way across the street// mouthing the words to a song you're listening to and someone taking a picture of you// Knowing what you want to say and then forgetting right when you try to say it// saying (out loud), "oh no, where did I put my sunglasses?!" and having someone answer, "um... They're on your head."

Awesome:

Seeing two MORE alligators while driving!! (kinda freaky though to think you could be walking on a sidewalk beside water full of alligators!)// blogging :)// memorizing 10 verses of Matthew a day (or at least trying to) :P// going on a safari at Animal Kingdom at Disney World and seeing so many different animals! (pictures coming as soon as I find the cord for the camera...)// another camera lens that zooms in way more (and isn't broken) ;)// having someone draw a cartoon picture of you

Pictures!

Since my camera lens broke, I have had to use my iPod for pictures... Here are some pictures from yesterday. Sorry they're all mixed up... for some reason it won't let me move them around properly. :/

this little cutie can sit now!

Here are some pictures of a parade we saw... Benjamin was so excited to see all of the characters! :)

and the other picture just disappeared...

Me and Benjamin in a car race ride... can you tell he's excited?

he refused to smile... I took about five pictures of his grumpy face here. :P

The fireworks were awesome!

awkward and awesome

I got this idea from Emma-lee. I needed something to do to get me on the blog more often, and this looked like lots of fun! :) So, here is my first awkward and awesome post!

Awkward:
twisting your ankle and having to hop around on one foot// realizing that the first part of your essay is due in two days and you haven't even started it// camera lens breaking. (not really awkward, but definitely not awesome!)// going through a store when they are playing less than appropriate music and then having it stuck in your head

Awesome:
Florida!//going to Gatorland (I'll post pictures soon!)// going to a candy store with nerd boxes a foot tall ( I'm not exaggerating!)// seeing cute little lizzards in the backyard// listening to TobyMac// double chocolate chip pancakes// seeing three aligators while driving near the water!// drawing the cutest miniature horse ever!!// finding a pin that is exactly like the grape soda pin from the movie Up

This picture is from our last trip to Florida, but I haven't uploaded the pictures from this year yet, so it will have to do...
I think I might start doing a post called Saturday's Sketches (it's the best I could come up with) so hopefully I will be able to post again on Saturday!

Duck Analogy

I am doing a book study on Mere Christianity by CS Lewis with a bunch of other homeschooled students at a co-op we go to, and we are doing a project to present at the last class of this year. The project can be pretty much whatever we want, as long as it relates back to the book. My project is... yep, a drawing. :o) Here is the drawing and how it relates to Mere Christianity.

(I like the way the x-ray effect makes the water look :))
One of the things Lewis talks about is the kind of life Jesus and God have, and the kind of life we have. The kind of life Jesus and God have never runs down or decays, and is completely real and everlasting. Lewis calls this kind of life, "Zoe." The kind of life we have is like a shadow or a reflection of Zoe. It has some resemblance, but after a certain amount of time, it runs down. He calls this kind of life, "Bios." Lewis also talks about us being able to become more and more like Christ, the closer we get to him. although we will not be able to become completely perfect and like Christ while we are on earth, we will once we get to heaven.
In my drawing, the reflection is sort of like Bios. It has a resemblance to the real duck, (which symbolizes Zoe) but although it looks somewhat like a real duck, it is not. The calmer the water gets, the more the reflection will resemble the real duck, just as the closer we are to Jesus, the more we will be like him. Now here is the part where this analogy doesn't really work anymore. There is nothing that can actually turn the reflection in the water into a real duck. We, on the other hand, if we get close enough to Christ in this life, can be given Zoe by Jesus. If what we see now is only the bottom half of the picture, (the relfection) than when we get to heaven, it would be like being able to see the top half of the picture, which is the real thing.
